How to Hang a Outdoor Banner
How to hang a outdoor banner
This blog will help you understand how to hang an outdoor banner effectively. PVC banners are a low cost method of displaying your message outdoors. They can be used to advertise an event, promote a product or service, create awareness, direct traffic or build local brand awareness. Printed banners are cheap to order and can last outdoors in all weathers.
To make the best use of your printed banner it is important it is hung correctly to maximize its impact and also extend its life outdoors. Poorly hung banners can rip or become loose, especially in periods of bad weather. Our guide shows some of the ways to hang a banner outdoors.
Before you start
Before you order your PVC banner measure the space available to display your banner and order this size. Although we sell standard size banners, we also can provide a custom size if this is a better fit to the space you have.
Also determine what you have available on which to hang your banner – will it be railings, a fence, posts etc ? Most importantly ensure you have permission to use the structure for banner advertising and that you are not breaking any laws.
Finally when hanging a banner. Ensure you attach it with EVERY eyelet to spread the force across the whole banner. DO NOT use just the 4 corner eyelets, this will put too much stress on the corners and the eyelets will rip out during windy periods.
Hanging a banner to a fence
The cheapest option is to buy cable ties and attach the PVC banner to the fence through each eyelet. Although this will work, cable ties are inflexible and in periods of high winds can sometimes rip the eyelet out of the banner. A better solution may be to purchase bungee ties.
These are specially designed fixings made from flexible elasticated material, and allow the banner some movement. In areas with high winds it is advisable to order a mesh PVC banner. The mesh allows wind to pass through the banner preventing it from being ripped off its ties.
Hanging a outdoor banner to a wall
For a semi-permanent wall fixing. Measure the distance between the eyelets, drill holes in the wall and screw the banner onto the wall using a washer large enough to cover the hole in the eyelet. Another option is to use hook screws and attach the banner to the hook using bungee ties. This enables you to replace your PVC banner without the need to screw it in each time.
